Secrets to a Healthy Long Term Relationship

I watched a lot of Disney movies such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel when I was younger. I was so ready to grow up so I could meet my “Prince Charming” and live happily ever after. I pictured him to be tall, dark, handsome and very wealthy. There were a few important things that Disney forgot to show me as a child. That is how these characters accomplished living happily ever after.  Let’s just say I kissed many frogs before I finally met someone that was close to what I imagined my “Prince Charming” to be like.  Relationships are not easy; it takes much comprise, hard work and love to become happily ever after. Here are a few secrets to get and maintain your happy ever after:

1.Have a willingness to communicate without blaming one another and stick to the point. Guess where to leave the past….in the past.

2. Know when to talk things out and when to wait until a better time.

3. Support each other in everything. Not only are you your significant other’s best friend, you are a cheerleader as well.

4. Know when it’s time to seek outside help. Going to counseling does not always have to be for something negative. You may learn new things to try in your relationship that could bring the two of you closer.

5. Stick through the relationship in the good, bad and the ugly. Sometimes this is easier said than done but if it was easy everyone would be in a long term relationship.

Most important LOVE YOURSELF. If you don’t, you can not expect someone else to.

  2. Tip #3 is everything! “Support each other in everything. Not only are you your significant other’s best friend, you are a cheerleader as well.” – I’ve always said that I wanted to be with ,y best friend for life. If I decide to marry, I’d want to share that experience with someone I can call my friend when the romance drips away. This is a nice blog. I’m glad i found it 🙂 best to you!
